With Open Banking having already reached Australia, I am pleased to announce Head of Regulatory at Open Banking (UK), Nilixa Devlukia, will be presenting at Intersekt 2019. Open Banking (UK) is the implementation entity set up by the UK Competition and Markets Authority to create innovative technology, data standards and the governance structures that enabled the United Kingdom to implement Open Banking. Relations between Australia’s fintech ecosystem and the UK’s have been strengthening, in line with this, I hope you consider participating in the Australian Fintech Mission to the UK for Lendit Fintech Europe 2019. I would like to welcome Marc Nourse, Head of Operations & General Counsel at OnDeck, to the FinTech Australia Board. Thank you to our founding members, who attended our annual dinner. It was great to reflect on our successes as well as discuss strategies on how we can continue to grow and develop new value propositions for our members.
Lastly, we currently have four policy submissions underway. One on payments, another on e-invoicing and two on Opening Banking. We are also are working closely with the ACCC and Treasury on the roll-out of the CDR regime including potential pilots.

It is the largest gathering of Australian Fintechs, hubs, accelerators, policymakers, regulators, investors and advisors, devoted to examining, discussing and unlocking the potential of Australias Fintech market.

The UKs Department for International Trade (DIT) in partnership with Fintech Australia is looking to bring a delegation of leading Australian fintech companies to London for Lendit Fintech Europe 2019.
LendIt Fintech Europe is the continents Leading Event in Financial Services Innovation. This years event will attract 1,200+ fintechs, banks and investors from Europes most influential companies to learn, network and do business.
The trade mission will includeLendIt Fintech Europe 2019, Europes leading event in financial services innovation which takes place from 26 – 27 September 2019.

NAB Innovation Portal
NAB recently partnered with Israels Bank Leumi and Canada-based CIBC to launch anonline portalthat provides Fintechs with an opportunity to submit partnership proposals directly to the banks.
Through the portal, Fintechs can understand specific customer problems the banks are looking to solve for, choose which banks they want to pitch to and send their proposal directly to the selected banks partnerships team. A response can be expected from banks within seven days.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Australian Fintechs as it not only provides a channel for connecting with the partnerships team within NAB, but also provides an opportunity to scale into global markets by connecting with banks from around the globe.

BDO’s Fintech Fridays – R&D Tax Incentives
Nicholas Parry, BDO Tax Partners, will host this workshop on accessing government assistance. Assistance schemes, such as the R&D tax incentive, innovation grants and exports grants, can be invaluable for Fintechs in providing much-needed funding in early growth stages and in providing a competitive advantage for mature businesses.
