Cape, next-gen Spend Management platform, taps ex-Paypal, Braintree, GoCardless, Zepto Exec for Board Advisor

Cape, the spend management tool empowering employees to better control their cash flow with their smart business credit cards, announced a new leadership appointment today with Carolyn Breeze joining as Non-Executive Director.

Breeze is a recognised commercial leader in the Payments industry and brings a wealth of experience from a range of innovative fintech startups and scaleups, including Zepto, Braintree, GoCardless and Paypal. She more recently joined local Australian venture capital and advisory firm Scalare as their CEO and recently led their acquisition of the Australian Technology Competition that recognises rising stars in the startup space and helps transform them for global growth.

The appointment further bolsters the Cape team and their SME Banking and Alternative Finance experience with deep payment expertise whilst supporting the strategic direction of the company's product offerings.

Cape issues business credit cards that are issued and controlled from their expense management platform which provides real-time spending data and insights so finance teams gain full visibility into every cent, card and colleague with the aim of helping businesses save money and reducing financial admin. They recently launched their continuous accounting integration with Xero to help support finance managers, bookkeepers, and accountants carry out real-time activities, allowing customers to balance out the peaks and troughs in workloads caused by needing to manage cash flow positions and business expenses on a daily basis.

Commenting on her appointment, Carolyn Breeze said:

"With the economic environment causing a shift in how businesses budget and manage their cash flow, Cape is well positioned to empower finance teams and their accountants with their quest to utilise next-generation technology for corporate spending.

I’m delighted to support the team as they move towards their public launch phase later in the year & hope that my experience as a leader within the payments industry will provide the guidance Cape needs and help them to capitalise on the massive market opportunity for their solution.”

Ryan Edwards-Pritchard, CEO of Cape continued:

“2023 has already been one of the most difficult years in existence for many businesses as they grapple with the conflicting challenges of having to reduce operational costs but at the same time unlock revenue growth opportunities.

Overspending and cash flow problems are a constant pain point. To get beyond this, businesses need to move beyond simply controlling their expenses to managing company spending holistically.

Which is why we are so excited to welcome Carolyn to the team as she brings a wealth of leadership experience in business payments orchestration and automation which will no doubt support Cape on our journey to building ‘Complete Expense Nirvana’ for our customers!”
