Industry Updates June 18, 2020

We hope everyone has been well over the past few weeks as restrictions begin to ease across the country. We have several exciting policy and community updates in store for you all, as well as a myriad of events and opportunities that you can take advantage of.

In respect of our policy work, we have submitted our submission to the Inquiry into the Future Directions for the Consumer Data Right, and we are currently seeking feedback from members on the first draft of our submission to the ASIC ePayments Review.

We are also currently progressing on Intersekt and the Finnies, which are scheduled to run later in the year. If you want to be involved in these events, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Before we launch into our community initiatives, we would like to thank Frollo for sponsoring this week’s newsletter. Your continued support of FinTech Australia and the broader fintech ecosystem is greatly appreciated.

We would like to welcome Cashrewards, Okmoni Digital and Mini Deposit Home Loans as our newest members! We have also recently partnered with the Australian National Institute of Management & Commerce to promote new courses in fintech.

Since our last newsletter, we have run two weeks of Five Fintechs on Fridays (with incredible enthusiasm from the community). These entries have featured Finspo, Azupay, Verrency, ID Exchange and Pax Technology Aus and Fillr, Smart, VAscoPay, Comparez and Tradeplus24. Stay tuned for this Friday’s latest FFoF. If you are interested in sponsoring Five Fintechs on Fridays, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We have also published two Member Spotlights since the last newsletter. A few weeks ago we spoke with Lachlan Heussler, InDebted’s Chief Commercial Officer about their fast growing business and future plans in a Covid-19 market. Last week, we spoke with we spoke to Civic Ledger’s CEO Katrina Donaghy about their exciting new collaboration with the Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia to develop a water trading platform in Far North Queensland.
