FinTech Australia announces Intersekt 2026
Intersekt is the cornerstone event in FinTech Week Australia bringing together fintechs, banks, investors and regulators from around the globe.
MELBOURNE, July 21: Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services Daniel Mulino, RBA Assistant Governor for Financial Systems Brad Jones and Xero CEO Sukhinder Singh Cassidy will take to the stage at the 9th annual Intersekt conference on September 3 and 4 at the Crown Promenade in Melbourne.
This year’s Intersekt sees fintech at a critical juncture with existential threats to capital access, major industry wide regulatory reform and the ongoing impact of AI. The program will dive into these topical industry issues over four themes:
Capital access: The biggest issue facing fintech startups and the future of innovation in this sector.
AI impact: How AI, and agentic AI, will play a pivotal role as it moves from pilot to production.
Regulation and reform: Fintech’s response to the biggest regulatory reset in a decade.
Money movement gets rewired: Every layer of the stack - regulator, scheme, acquirer, issuer merchant, across cross border, POS, stablecoins
Intersekt is the cornerstone event in FinTech Week Australia (September 1-4) which will connect industry leaders and international delegations in a series of events, pitch nights and regulatory roundtables.
FinTech Australia CEO Rehan D’Almeida says with significant policy reforms at a national level, this year’s Intersekt will provide an opportunity for robust discussion about the future of the industry.
“Our Deloitte Impact of Fintech report shows the huge opportunity that fintech has to triple in size to become a $37 billion industry in the next decade buoyed by huge technological shifts that will help grow the sector, but it is critical that we get the policy settings right,” D’Almeida says.
“The policy reform underway has the potential to change the outlook for local fintechs, with concerns surrounding the evolving access to capital.”

Last year’s Intersekt hosted more than 1000 attendees including representatives from over 220 fintechs and 11 government agencies. Organisers are encouraging early registration, as the event has sold out a week in advance for four years running.
Intersekt 2026 is made possible through the continued support of the Victorian Government through the Department of Jobs, Skills and Regions as a Presenting Partner of the event.
