PocketSmith has won the 2026 award for ‘Best App’ in the global awards run annually by Open Banking Expo.
The ‘Best App’ award recognises the most innovative open banking-enabled application for consumers to enhance their financial wellbeing.
PocketSmith’s entry was assessed by an expert panel of judges on criteria including enabling better financial decision-making, improving financial outcomes, quality end-to-end user experience, uptake in user adoption, customer satisfaction, unique innovation, and commercial success.
The winning entry highlighted PocketSmith’s core brand promise of “all the features you need to manage your money,” including innovative features like customisable categorisation, what-if analysis, and powerful forecasting tools.
“We are so pleased and proud to win this award because it celebrates technology that puts consumers in control, and makes managing money simpler and smarter,” Jason Leong, Co-founder & CEO of PocketSmith, said.
“As we told the judges, PocketSmith’s mission is to put the ‘Household CFO’ back in control of their money by helping them access their bank data, really understand where their money is coming from and going to, and test what they could do differently to move the needle on their financial wellbeing tomorrow,” Leong added.
PocketSmith is a bootstrapped, profitable, 18-year-old fintech company headquartered in New Zealand, proudly serving 396,000 customers in 190 countries by syncing bank feeds from over 14,000 institutions.
“PocketSmith is committed to active, ongoing product and UX development because people should have the information and agency to manage their money on their own terms,” James Wigglesworth, Co-founder & CTO of PocketSmith, said.
“Our app facilitates easy sharing of data with other members of the household, as well as financial advisors and tax accountants,” Wigglesworth noted.
With 22 categories, the 2026 Open Banking Expo Awards were the biggest yet, and the gala ceremony was held in London in the evening of Tuesday, 13 October 2026.
PocketSmith was shortlisted for this year’s award against Know Your Dosh, which was highly commended by the judges, and Moneysuite.
Previous winners in the ‘Best App’ category include Cheddar, BankiFi, Moneyhub, and Snoop.
