Monoova Appoints Payments Industry Executive Bianca Bates as CEO
Sydney, Australia – 21 May, 2026: Monoova has appointed experienced payments and financial services executive Bianca Bates as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July 2026, as the company continues scaling its real-time payments infrastructure and enterprise capabilities.
Bianca joins Monoova following senior executive roles at Smartgroup and Cuscal, bringing more than 25 years’ experience across payments, financial services, governance, customer leadership and operational scale.
During her decade at Cuscal, Bianca held several senior leadership positions including Chief Client Officer and Deputy CEO, leading customer, product and operational functions across the business. She previously served as General Counsel and Company Secretary and was also a Non-Executive Director of eftpos Payments Australia.
Her experience spans large-scale payments infrastructure, enterprise customer growth, regulated financial services environments and industry-wide payments innovation.
“Monoova has built a highly respected business with strong technology, strong customers and strong momentum under Christian’s leadership,” said Bates. “The opportunity ahead in real-time payments and financial orchestration remains significant, and I’m excited to join the team to help scale the business through its next phase of enterprise growth and innovation.”
The appointment follows a period of significant growth for Monoova, which has become an important part of Australia’s evolving real-time payments ecosystem, supporting businesses across fintech, insurance, property, remittance and financial services.
Robert Bell, Chair of Monoova’s Board, said Bates’ appointment reflects the company’s continued investment in scale, operational maturity and long-term growth. “Bianca brings an exceptional combination of payments expertise, customer leadership, operational experience and industry knowledge,” said Bell. “Her background across some of Australia’s most important payments and financial services organisations makes her ideally positioned to lead Monoova through its next stage of growth.”
Bell also acknowledged the contribution of outgoing CEO and Co-Founder Christian Westerlind Wigstrom. “Christian has played an instrumental role in building Monoova into a leading real-time payments business in Australia,” said Bell. “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank him for his leadership, vision and contribution to the business.”
Christian will continue to act as an advisor to the Chair and support Monoova through the transition period until Bates commences as CEO on 1 July 2026.
