Hello Clever Intersekt 2026 Recap
Paystachio and Payments
Intersekt 2026 has wrapped, and the Hello Clever team is still buzzing from two big days at Crown Promenade, Melbourne. Fintech Australia’s biggest event of the year brought founders, investors, regulators, and operators into one room, and gave us the chance to talk real-time payments and embedded loyalty with the people actually building this industry, in between handing out ice cream from our Frisco pop-up in the main foyer.
Our CEO Caroline Tran took the stage twice, on Day 1 for “Unlocking Southeast & Northeast Asia,” and on Day 2 for “Different Perspectives. Better Decisions. Stronger Businesses.” This year’s ninth annual Intersekt ran on four themes: capital access, AI impact, regulation and reform, and money movement getting rewired. A lot of what we heard matched what we’re already building.
Intersekt 2026 Highlights
The trends we saw, and the fixes we’ve already shipped.
Real-time payments are no longer a competitive edge, they’re the baseline. Merchants and platforms aren’t asking whether real-time rails matter anymore, they’re asking how fast they can consolidate onto fewer providers to get there, exactly the “money movement rewiring” shift Intersekt called out this year. Our real-time payments infrastructure, built on PayID and PayTo, is designed for exactly this shift.
Loyalty is moving into the payment itself. There’s real appetite for rewards that land inside the transaction, not a separate app a customer has to remember to open. Instant Cashback already does this today, and it’s just the beginning of where we’re taking loyalty next.
AI has to prove itself now, not just show up. A year past the height of the hype, the leaders we spoke with are asking sharper questions: does this reduce cost, improve conversion, or catch a problem before it costs revenue. That’s the same shift Intersekt framed as AI moving from pilot to production, and it’s exactly what Clever AI is built to do, turning transaction data into a plain-language answer a merchant can act on immediately. Clever Shop is built on that same thinking, bringing that intelligence directly into the shopping experience itself. Measuring payment performance shouldn’t be optional. Several conversations came back to the gap between merchants who actually measure what’s failing and what’s working, and those still running on assumption, exactly the kind of gap Clever AI is built to close.
The platform model keeps consolidating, with fewer, more unified providers handling payments, loyalty, and intelligence together, instead of five separate tools stitched into one workaround. Clever Connect was built for this directly, dedicated balances, treasury accounts, and platform revenue in one dashboard, instead of stitching together separate providers.
Intersekt keeps proving itself as one of the sharpest rooms in Australian fintech, and we’re already counting down to next year. Between conversations on real-time payments and embedded loyalty, our Frisco pop-up kept the queue for Paystachio busy the whole two days.
