Cape hires former Dext duo to help manage roll out of Beta program

ustralia’s Cape, the next generation Expense Management platform for modern finance teams today announced the appointment of Lauren Crawford as the Head of Growth and Matthew Rowan as Customer Operations Manager.

The duo join from Dext, a global Saas business that provides productivity software solutions focused on helping accountants automatically manage receipts, invoices and categorise data.

During her time as Head of Partner Success (APAC) at Dext, Crawford was responsible for executing multiple GTM strategies across transactional, channel and subscription revenue streams for customers in highly competitive industries, as well as month on month expansion of the user base as the startup scaled to over 450,000 SME customers and one million users globally.

Whilst at Dext, Rowan was promoted to exclusively delivering solutions within the top 100 Accounting Firms across APAC. Further to that, he was responsible for the creation of a new consulting team aimed at assisting with financial proficiency and process efficiency within accounting firms.

The duo’s experience in driving growth with 3 Fintech solutions focussed on accounting, analytics and ecommerce within the Australian market will prove invaluable in Cape’s next phase of growth.

Head of Growth, Lauren Crawford commented:

“I’m excited and honored for the opportunity to join Cape as their Head of Growth. It’s been incredible to watch Ryan take the company from a high level concept we discussed 15 months ago, to what it is today.”

“The opportunity to work for a home grown Australian Fintech, while based out of the Manly Wotso situated on one of the world’s most iconic beaches, presents an enviable opportunity.”

Customer Operations Manager, Matthew Rowan added:

“Small businesses are the growth engine of the Australian economy and I look forward to serving them through Cape” said Rowan.

Having spent the last 4 years consulting with accountants and bookkeepers, I’m excited to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the people behind the numbers. It’s all about having the right tools and visibility to ensure the decisions you are making today lead to desired outcomes into the future,” said Rowan.

“Cape’s ethos of innovation and next generation solutions aligns with my own values to help customers improve efficiencies and give time back to their employees by realising a more autonomous workforce.”

Cape’s new hires are joining the startup during a period of rapid growth and come hot off the heels of the appointment of former Capital on Tap exec Julian Guppy as CTO and former Cashplus Bank exec Andrew Fanner as CPMO.

CEO Ryan Edwards-Pritchard commented

“We’ve already experienced monumental product milestones since the beginning of the year, so I am thrilled to expand the talent we have across our founding team with their combined deep experience in the accounting and bookkeeping industry.

Lauren’s unique presence and experience partnering with key software companies, associations and accounting practices in Australia make her a perfect fit for our next stage of growth as we begin to onboard our first customers.

Whilst Matthew brings a unique technical skill set combined with a passion for the industry that is hard to come by. He has worked at every stage of the customer journey, has driven beta programmes for Fintech solutions entering the APAC market for the first time and was a founding member of the Practice Solutions Team during his time at Dext.”
